Gerrit Cole makes season debut
- Cole was slated to be the opening-day starter against the Astros, but his season was delayed because of an elbow injury
- He held his own in his season debut, pitching 4 innings, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits & striking out 5
- The Orioles rallied back to win the game 7-6 in the 10th inning

AAA institutes new challenge system
- Batters/catchers can challenge umpire calls on balls or strikes at the plate in real-time
- Teams get 3 challenges each & retain their challenge if successful
- If all goes well, the challenge system could be seen at the major league level as early as ‘26

The Giants honor Willie Mays
- Every MLB team had a moment of silence for the great Willie Mays on Wednesday
- Giants fans unable to attend Thursday's game at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Ala., will have an opportunity to honor Willie Mays
- They announced Wednesday that Oracle Park will be open to fans with the game televised on the scoreboard
